Bard College at Simon’s Rock Department of Music presents the Simon’s Rock Chamber Orchestra concert. The concert will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 8 p.m. in the Kellogg Music Center. Community Music Program faculty Anne Legêne directs the group, and the program will feature music by Schubert, Fauré and Purcell.
Born in the Netherlands, Community Music Program faculty Anne Legêne studied modern cello at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Jean Decroos, principal cellist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam. In recent years she is taking a special interest in baroque music, studying with Phoebe Carrai of Boston. She has a private teaching practice at her home studio, and teaches cello and orchestra at the Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner and the Hawthorne Valley schools. Her performances include programs of baroque chamber music, in which she uses a cello with gut strings and baroque bow, and of modern chamber repertoire.
The concert is free and open to the public.
