GREAT BARRINGTON, MA — The Simon's Rock Jazz Ensemble led by music faculty member John Myers will perform in an evening of standards and improvisations at the McConnell Theater of the Daniel Arts Center. The concert will take place Sunday December 3 at 8 p.m.

John Myers, who has taught at Simon's Rock since 1987, is a guitarist, musicologist, interactive media developer, and composer whose work has been included in numerous recordings, multimedia productions and publications. Before coming to Simon's Rock, Myers taught applied guitar and theory at the University of Maryland, at Howard Community College in Columbia, Md., and several other colleges. He teaches Jazz studies, interactive arts, Asian studies, ethnomusicology and theory-composition. Myers is interested in new computer-based art forms and their relationship with traditional art forms, including implications for representing and defending cultural diversity. He serves on the board of advisors to World Music Reports.

This concert is free and open to the public.
