150 New Alumni Donors, $25,000 in Additional Scholarship Funds
They may have left campus, but a group of a dozen committed alumni have not forgotten the college. Steadfast Simon’s Rock supporters—Anne Morgan ’66, John Jacobs ’70, K. Sherbetdjian ’81, Paul Goldschmidt ’84, Zachary Julius ’85, Scott Blake ’88, Adam Shostack ’88, Tim Coffey ’95, Michal Zivan Coffey ’95, Gina Mosca ’95, Marcie Good ’95 and Skyler Balbus ’04—have pledged $25,000 in additional scholarship funds if 150 new alumni donors join the college’s philanthropic community and make a gift by July.
“This challenge highlights a motto in our office: every gift counts,” explains Lezlie Lee, director of alumni affairs. Lee says that if the college can rally support from just 150 new alumni donors it will be a huge boost to the much needed scholarship funds. “Alumni are passionate about Simon’s Rock. Many know first hand the impact of this deeply personal and engaged education. They know the difference a scholarship can make in terms of whether a student is able to come and stay here.”
Last year the college was able to raise $125,000 in scholarship support. This year, with the new alumni challenge, Simon’s Rock hopes that it will not only reach that goal, but beat it with the help of the additional dollars slated to come if the alumni community can meet the challenge. “Every gift from a new alumni donor has the potential of being the difference between $25 and $25,000,” Lee explains. She says, “Truly, there is no better time to make a gift than now.”
