Stockbridge artist Terry Wise was first trained in textile design before she came to painting, and it shows. Not only do patterned surfaces find their way into her work but often they are the subject matter themselves in her rich still-lives and interior views. They may be painted in, block printed on, or layered in hand printed or found papers, creating a textured, multi-colored base. Wise considers her painting to offer a playful realism in that she lets the color, texture, and patterns take on their own life and infuse vibrancy to the subject.

There will be an Artist’s Reception and brief Gallery Talk on December 9th from 5:00 – 7:00pm in the Atrium Gallery located within the Alumni Library. The exhibition is free and open to the public during the regular hours of the library: 8:30 – midnight on weekdays and 11:00 – midnight on the weekends. All the art work will be for sale through the artist.
