Berkshire Photography Group at Liebowitz Gallery
Collected works by the members of the Berkshire Photography Group will be on display
August 23rd through October 5th in The Gallery at the Liebowitz building located on the campus
of Bard College at Simon's Rock. The public is invited to an opening reception for the artists on
Saturday, August 23rd from 4-6pm.
The BPG is a group of award-winning fine-art photographers that has been in existence
for four years. Members include Karen Andrews, Neil Brander, Burton Elliott, Martin Greene,
Arthur Hillman, John Lipkowitz, Sharon Lips, Melody Mason, Lee Rogers, H. David Stein and
Barbara Winters. Many photographers in the group exhibit their work in galleries and art venues
throughout the Berkshires and other areas.
Photographs on view in the exhibit present a wide diversity of perspective, from the broadest to
the most focused and abstract. Each artist has an individual style and vision when approaching
their subject. Many images have been taken right here in the Berkshires, but there is also work
from locales in other parts of the United States, Canada, Europe and Africa.
The mission of the group has been to promote photography as an art form and expand
photography's visibility in the region. Since their inception, the group has co-sponsored
lectures by a number of distinguished artists and photographers in conjunction with the
Photography Program at Simon's Rock.
