The Dedication of the Hillman-Jackson Gallery
THE HILLMAN-JACKSON GALLERY OPENS AT THE DANIEL ARTS CENTER
On October 28th our new gallery at the Daniel Arts Center was dedicated in honor of two long-time faculty in the arts, Arthur Hillman and Bill Jackson, both of whom retired last spring. The dedication ceremony brought together friends, family, colleagues and students who spoke of the legacy Arthur and Bill have left at Simon's Rock after 32 years of teaching.
In the exhibition "Looking Back / Moving Forward" Arthur chose to display a series of photographs he has developed over the past ten years centered around the architecture of the contemporary art museum Mass MoCA in North Adams. Bill chose a selection of work from the past forty-three years that highlight his prolific and inventive talents in scultpure and painting using highly diverse materials and methods.
The exhibition is on view through December 21, 2011.
