Director of Finance and Administration

Bard College at Simon’s Rock, located in the heart of the Berkshires in Great Barrington, Massachusetts is seeking a Director of Finance and Administration who will be responsible for the direction and management of all financial activities at the College. The successful candidate will report directly to the Provost of Bard College at Simon’s Rock and to the Controller of Bard College and the Associate Vice President of Bard College.

The Director, who is a member of the Provost’s Council (the senior leadership team at Simon’s Rock), will be responsible for the preparation of financial statements, cash management, budget development and management, audit preparation, and the supervision of the Business Office. S/he also will direct the human resource function at the College, oversee risk management, and supervise auxiliary enterprises.

The ideal candidate should have a BA or BS in Accounting along with a demonstrated working knowledge of ERP based accounting systems. Knowledge of Banner software is preferred, as is ten or more years of experience in financial management with an institution of higher education. The Director also should have the demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with faculty and staff who work at the College and to maintain professional relationships with the outside vendors who provide the College goods and services.
