Merit Scholarship Applicants
Merit scholarships are an investment made by the college in students who display particular accomplishments and potential. All applicants who submit their applications by February 1 and complete the additional requirements listed on the application will be considered for any merit scholarships for which they are eligible. Some very strong applicants will be invited to campus to be considered for our most competitive merit awards.
Merit scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, extracurricular distinction, personal motivation and character. By the conclusion of the 10th grade, most merit scholarship applicants have completed at least two years each of English, mathematics (including geometry and algebra II), science, social studies, and a foreign language; applicants entering the College after the 11th grade typically have completed three or more years of each subject. Applicants wishing to be considered for merit scholarships are asked to submit an additional essay and recommendation. Guidelines and a checklist for merit scholarship applicants are provided in the application.
Merit scholarships awarded to incoming students are renewable for four years provided the recipient maintains full-time enrollment and meets the necessary GPA requirements. Recipients of merit awards are also eligible for need-based grants and loans.
ACCELERATION TO EXCELLENCE PROGRAM (AEP) SCHOLARSHIP
