Applying to Simon's Rock

We treat your application not as a set of numbers but as an expression of your character, ambitions, imagination and intelligence. We ask for all of the standard information—recommendations and transcripts—but also ask you to do a good deal of writing. Home-schooled students should include well documented academic histories. For all applicants, we require a personal interview: a conversation (preferably on campus) with a member of our staff. There's no script, no set list of questions, and no right answers; we just want to know you as a live, talking, thinking person. College entrance test scores are optional for most applicants.

Students applying for fall admission may apply for Acceleration to Excellence Program (AEP) Scholarships or for regular admission. The deadline for AEP applicants is February 1. The deadline for regular admission for the fall semester is May 31, although we encourage students to apply as early as possible. In fact, the application fee will be waived for students whose applications are postmarked on or before April 15, which is also our priority deadline for financial aid. After May 31, admission applications are considered on a space-available basis.

In addition, we enroll a small class every January and some students choose to begin at Simon's Rock in the middle of the junior or senior year. The application deadline for January entry is December 1. The AEP Scholarship is not available for students entering in January, though all other forms of merit- and need-based aid are offered.

Simon's Rock accepts transfer applicants as well. Most such students apply for transfer admission as juniors to take advantage of the Upper College, although we will also consider students with some college work who wish to be admitted into the Lower College program, either as sophomores or first-year students with advanced standing.
