Teaching positions at Colorado State University, the University of New Mexico, Berkshire Community College, SUNY Albany, and the Language and Thinking Workshop for New Students at Bard College (1984-1990).
Director of the Simon's Rock Young Writers Workshop.
An Associate of the Bard College Institute for Writing and Thinking.
Areas of Interest: American Romanticism, English Romanticism, Nature Writing, the Personal Essay, Writing to Learn (Jamie leads teacher and student workshops in this area as an Associate of the Bard College Institute for Writing and Thinking, and as Director of the Simon's Rock Young Writers Workshop), Writing and Photography (course with Arthur Hillman), and The Inklings (Tolkien, Lewis, Williams, Barfield).

Awards & Activities:
Presentations of papers at the New England Modern Language Association, Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association, and Modern Language Association conventions.
Exhibits of black and white photographs in Faculty/Staff Art Shows at Bard College at Simon's Rock. As an Associate of the Bard College Institute for Writing and Thinking for many years, he has designed and led workshops for high school and college teachers. Since 1983, he has taught in the Simon's Rock Young Writers Workshop (formerly the Writing and Thinking Workshop).
Director of the Simon's Rock Young Writers Workshop since 1986, in which time the enrollment has grown from 24 students to 78.
Faculty Development grant (2001) to support sabbatical project, an inquiry in words and images into his experiences living and teaching in Ft. Collins, Colorado during the counter-cultural years of the late 1960's.
