Research Interests:
20th-century prose from Latin America, critical theory, the aesthetics of francophone and Spanish-language film, and the adaptation of stories across disciplinary and linguistic boundaries. Her current research explores how narratives from Latin America can be read through their relationships to geographical concerns, such as the social construction of nature.
Positions:
Dr. Roe taught at Brandeis University and Boston College before coming to Simon's Rock. Her professional development extends beyond academia as well, for she has also been a staff editor for The Atlantic Monthly and performed widely as a professional classical singer.

Awards/Grants:
Her dissertation, which focuses on storytelling as an inherited or retrieved oral tradition in recent works from the Americas, received an Oberlin College dissertation prize for alumni.
Publications:
She is completing a revision of her dissertation for publication and has published review essays in Scope: An Online Journal of Film Studies and the Boston Book Review.
