The Elements of Style
Supplies in brief space the principal requirements of plain English style and concentrates attention on the rules of usage and principles of composition most commonly violated. This is the original 1918 version, written by William Strunk, Jr. (E. B. White’s rhetoric professor at Cornell). This is not the later revision made by Mr. White in 1959.
