The Scientific American Archive Online presents developments that have taken place in every field of science. It contains the entire editorial content and all special issues of Scientific American from January 1993 through to the present -- updated monthly. Scirus
Scirus claims to be the most comprehensive science-specific search engine on the Internet. It searches over 200 million science-specific Web pages, allowing access to reports, peer-reviewed articles, patents, pre prints, journals, and university web sites. Only a limited number of full-text articles are available free, but all hits include citations, and many include abstracts. More info.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) to lead the Web to its full potential. (High-sounding words, but this really is a fine source for information about HTML, XML, CSS, and all sorts of other website-related acronyms. Great tutorials.)

Google Scholar full text
The ever-ambitious Google’s attempt to index “scholarly” information on the web. Not exhaustive or entirely reliable (the project is still in development), but worth a try if you’ve drawn a blank everywhere else. Note that many of the articles indexed require payment for viewing (though you can usually obtain the article citation for free). More database info.
